Reported that Japan's Western Air Defense Force scrambled fighters after tracking the formation from morning into the afternoon of June 27, covering a leg from the East China Sea to the Pacific off Shikoku. Japan's Defence Ministry said the aircraft did not violate Japanese airspace but lodged a diplomatic complaint.
