Grain, fertilizer, seeds and the price of a meal.
현황
The June FAO-WFP hunger hotspots report identified 318M people in IPC 3+ crisis across 13 hotspots; Sudan, Gaza, South Sudan and Yemen are at "highest concern." Somalia's Burhakaba district is at 37.1% global acute malnutrition, famine-level, and WFP faces a $131M Somalia funding gap that threatens July operations. On the supply side, the Hormuz closure's fertilizer shock is not unwinding fast: urea has fallen 50% from its April peak but USDA projects input costs elevated through 2027, and US farmers who reduced nitrogen applications this spring face lower yields at harvest. IFPRI estimates the closure cut global nitrogen fertilizer supply 18% at its peak, projecting global wheat output 3-4% below trend in 2026-27. The record European heat wave is raising further alarm for winter-wheat yields across southern Europe. The FAO cereal index rose for a fourth straight month in May, US Hard Red Winter wheat up 28% year-on-year. Watch the August USDA WASDE for yield-damage signals, WFP Somalia's July funding cliff, and whether Iran's resumed fertilizer exports stabilise 2027 forward prices before buyers contract.
