Reported that PM Takaichi told the Headquarters for Ocean Policy that Japan would revise its Arctic strategy in fiscal 2027, the first update since 2015, driven by China and Russia accelerating resource development, securing sea routes and expanding military presence in the Arctic. Takaichi instructed Minister of State for Ocean Policy Jiro Akama to develop the revision in coordination with allied countries.
