NASA's Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory, launched in November 2004 to study gamma-ray bursts and ultraviolet astronomy, faces uncontrolled atmospheric re-entry by late 2026 or early 2027 as its 20.6-degree-inclination orbit has decayed.
